Sunhat

Sunhat are a sustainability start based in Germany, who produce software that focuses on helping the Mittelstand reach their sustainability goals. The Mittelstand are companies in Germnay with a vigilant attention to improvement, and a laser focus on a specific product. That are invisible but essential. That face pressure from customers, staff and legislators to do better.

I was approached by London agency Otherside to help develop a visual brand identity to support he strategy piece they had already produced.

Sustainability is a journey not a destination
I focused the design language around one key insight. Sustainability is a jounrey not a destination. Sunhat help businesses hit their sustainability goals and track their progress, but also to keep retargeting and improving. Thinking about this insight and the name of the company i looked to the stars for inspiration and diacovered that the planets in our solar system allow very different paths around the sun. These are cyclical and consistent but each has it’s own path that is unique to it, much like the Mittelstand.

A window for opportunity
I created a window device to create a consistent feel to all of Sunhat’s communications. This window represents the future and future focused businesses. The Orbit path graphics are the only element that can break through this device as they represent the journey from present to future.The curved top right corner gives the brand a  unique feel and ties back to the logo design.
Typography & Colour
The colour palette for Sunhat was influenced by nature.The primary palette is representative of the sun and space. The secondary palette colours are inspired by three colours and hues that are present in a sunrise. This palette give flexibility to the brand while maintaining a consistent look and feel.The typography was chosen to give character to the brand but also maintain legibility on digital platforms as Sunhat are a SASS enterprise.

Putting a hat on it
Bringing it all together and we have a distinctive and scalable brand that can grow with the company.As part of the brand deliverables I provided guidelines for the brand, social media assets, print best practice executions, icon and illustration guidance and designed and built a website for the client in Webflow.
