Birchstone

Birchstone markets are a financial, investment and risk management business, who wanted to create a new way of doing things in the industry.

The believed that a connected partnership between Birchstone and the customer is the best way to do treasury and wanted this symbiotic relationship to be central to their brand looks and feel.

I was tasked with designing the brand from the ground up including, logos, design systems, and rules and guidelines for using the brand communications.

A flexible grid designed for connection
I wanted to create a system that would allow the brand to have a consistent look and feel but the flexibility in the design to allow the Birchstone team to manage it effectively and for designers to easily replicate.

The grid design was influence by the brand positioning 'Connected Treasury' and the symbiotic relationship between Birchstone and its customers. This was achieved using the semi circle device and placing the customer at the centre of the whole experience.

Digital and offline roll-out
As part of the brand project I created a full suite of executions from external marketing to daily use and legal stationary/documents.

I also had to consider how the brand works across both online and offline mediums.

I wanted to create a unique feel for the website that would set it apart from its competition.

The horizontal scroll created a different feeling for users on the website that instantly made them aware that this is on ordinary Risk Management business, but that they look at things differently.
